WELCOME!

Boozhoo, my fellow Red Lakers,

I am so pleased to have this method of communicating with you. Some of you are so up to date with i-pods, i-pads, blackberrys, texting, tweeting, etc. etc. but this is all new and exciting to me!

The Red Lake Nation has begun its 2010 election season. As a candidate for Chairman, I pledge to be respectful and conduct myself with the honor that this office deserves. Our ancestors would chose Chiefs based on the job that needed to be done. Our job for today and into the future is to prepare our tribe for a changing world. The global economy, climate and interconnectedness are all changing. The opportunities I have had to manage, to administer and to lead during my lifetime have prepared me to take on the critical tasks and challenges that we will face. Some of you don't know me very well. This is your opportunity to ask me questions, either through this blog or through private e-mails. I will respond either way. So let's blog! Judy

  1. Mrs.Roy, I am honored to be the first one to publicly state that you have my full support in the upcomig election. I speak with you everyday, your thoughts and ideas are massive. Your concern for your people and the tone of your voice when you speak of them is just something to be admired. You have never put any of the current administration, because you see no need to do that. I admire and respect the way you carry yourself and your ability to convey your thoughts with that " Judy Roy " voice is something that I will never forget. You have taught me so much, I want to thank you. My very best to you, may you take the whole vote this time. From my heart to yours........

  2. Boozhoo Judy Roy for Chairman,

I have one huge concern that should also concern fellow Red Lake members and the community at large. Our Red Lake Nation has become known as a haven or safehouse for fugitives from across the nation. Convicted felons and other fugitives running from the law often hide out on the Red Lake Nation. This is a huge safety concern for our people and only adds to the animosity from non-Natives in the surrounding communities. Why do some of our people think that being Native means defying the law and enabling others to break the law? We need to take responsibility for our actions...

  3. Mrs.Roy, I would like to wish all the luck and support in the upcomming election. I know it is in your best interest to do what is right for the tribe you have proven that throughout the years. I just have one question. what is your thoughts on the enrollment issue? ....Again I hope for the best GOOD LUCK.

  6. Dear commenters,
thank you for your questions and good wishes. As I said, I am just getting the hang of this, but I am going to post two items under "Hot Topics" for people to express their views on
    1. drugs and other lawlessness and 2.a separate one for the enrollment/blood quantum issue. Thank you, too to the members who are e-mailing me with private expressions of concern and support. I am answering each of these e-mails as I receive them and I appreciate this interaction with you.
    All the best. Judy
